TrustMate is a powerful platform for collecting customer feedback, and bringing those reviews into your WordPress site is a great way to build social proof. While we support direct API integrations for many platforms, the Custom CSV Import methods are the most reliable way to bulk-upload your TrustMate history.

In this guide, we’ll walk through two ways to import your TrustMate data: the Quick CSV Import for speed, and the Advanced CSV Wizard for complex files.

Step 1: Create your TrustMate Custom Source

Before you can import reviews, you need a “container” for them. We do this by creating a Custom Source.

  1. Navigate to WP Review Slider Pro > Get Reviews.
  2. Look for the Custom Sources section. If you haven’t added TrustMate yet, click Add New Custom Source and name it “TrustMate”.
  3. Once the source is created, click on it to manage your Source Pages.
  4. Click Add New Source Page – TrustMate.
  5. Fill in the Place or Location Name (e.g., “Main Store”) and the Review URL (your public TrustMate profile link).
  6. Click Save Source Page.

Method 1: The Quick CSV Import

Best for: Standard CSV files where you just want to map columns and go.

Once your source page is created, you’ll see it in the list with an Add Reviews button.

  1. Now you
  2. Click Add Reviews next to your TrustMate source.
  3. In the popup, click the 📂 Import from CSV button.
  4. Select your CSV file exported from TrustMate.
  5. Column Mapping: A small window will appear. Match your CSV columns (Author, Text, Rating, Date) to the plugin fields.
  6. Click Import Reviews. The rows will populate the “Add Reviews” table.
  7. New & Improved: We recently updated this tool to handle hundreds of reviews at once. When you click Save, the plugin now automatically saves in “batches” of 10 to prevent server errors. You’ll see a progress bar showing Saving 10 of 477 reviews....

Method 2: The Advanced CSV Wizard

Best for: Very large files, checking for duplicates, or complex data mapping.

If your TrustMate export has unique formatting or you want to see a detailed validation before importing, use the Wizard.

  1. Click Add Reviews next to your TrustMate source.
  2. Click the new 🧙 Use Advanced CSV Wizard button.
  3. Step 1 (Source): Your TrustMate source will already be selected.
  4. Step 2 (Upload): Upload your CSV. Our new parser now handles commas and line breaks inside your review text perfectly.
  5. Step 3 (Mapping): Use the advanced interface to map columns. You can even set “Overrides” here (e.g., forcing all reviews to be in English).
  6. Step 4 (Review): The Wizard will check your file for errors or potential duplicates already in your database.
  7. Step 5 (Import): Click Import. Like the quick method, this now uses JSON Batching to ensure even the largest TrustMate files (500+ reviews) upload without hitting PHP limits.

Pro Tip: Changing Names and URLs later

If you ever need to change the name of your TrustMate location or the Review URL after importing, don’t worry!

We’ve optimized the Edit Source Site logic. If you update the “Place or Location Name” or “Review URL” on the source page and click Save, the plugin will automatically sweep through all your previously imported reviews and update their metadata to match the new info.
